2 months agoThe Sea Cliff Bridge in Stanwell Park, NSW, is a masterpiece of coastal engineering that offers one of the most breathtaking, dramatic drives in Australia. Hugging the sheer cliffs of the Illawarra escarpment while jutting out over the Pacific Ocean, it completely transforms a standard road trip into an unforgettable experience. Here is a breakdown of why this drive and the nearby lookout are absolute must-dos: The Drive (Both Ways): Driving it in both directions is the best way to experience it. Heading south, you feel hugged by the massive cliff faces, while heading north opens up sweeping, uninterrupted views of the ocean. The gentle curve of the bridge makes you feel like you're floating directly over the water. Stanwell Tops Lookout: Pulling over at the lookout is crucial for capturing the scale of the area. It provides the ultimate vantage point for photos and videos, allowing you to shoot the bridge snaking along the coastline with the turquoise waves crashing below. It's also a famous hang-gliding spot, so you'll often catch gliders launching into the sea breeze. Pro Tip: If you have time on your next visit, park at the ends of the bridge and walk the dedicated pedestrian path. It lets you take in the sea spray and look straight down into the rockpools below at a much slower pace. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it is easily one of the most photogenic stretches of asphalt in the world.

Makes for a nice little stop. Plus you can have a walk along the pathway on the bridge. Good way to stretch your legs on a long journey
