3 months agoThis is by far my favourite cafe I have been too!!! This is my second time coming here in the past week. The photos speak for themselves, this has got to be one of the best food places on the east coast. I am most impressed with their hot cake. It was absolutely divine, I am not ashamed to say I ate the whole thing despite it being MASSIVE. Definitely order it!!! The bad boy burger is also insanely good. The hotcake has got to be one of my favourite foods I have ever gotten and it was definitely worth the money. I always am hesitant to order pancakes/hotcakes from cafes as they are always a tiny portion and very expensive, but this blew me away!!! The Oreo super shake was by no surprise also absolutely delicious!!!! I will gladly travel two hours just to come here again!!! 💖

3 weeks agoHungry Monkey? I Left Feeling Angry. We waited in a long queue, and after finally getting a table, we were seated directly under the blazing sun. It was unbelievably hot. We were so uncomfortable that we had to wear sunglasses and hats just to sit there. We asked whether there was an umbrella or whether we could move to another table, or if there was any other solution. Instead of showing any understanding or apologising for the situation, the staff member simply told us: “I already gave you the choice — either wait for another table or squeeze in here. You chose this yourselves.” This attitude was extremely frustrating. We were not complaining about having to wait for a table — we were asking for a reasonable solution because the table we were given was directly under the blazing sun and was practically impossible to sit at. There was no genuine apology or attempt to help us. Eventually, we simply couldn’t sit there anymore and had no choice but to ask for our food to be packed as takeaway. We specifically asked them to cut our burgers in half. We asked beforehand and were initially told that they could do it. I then repeated the request and clearly said, “Please make sure you cut the burgers in half.” The staff member replied, “Definitely.” But when we received our takeaway, the burgers were still completely whole, and we had to cut them ourselves. What made this even more frustrating was that we saw the staff cutting burgers for other customers, while we were told that they couldn’t do it for us. We had specifically asked in advance and received confirmation, so there was absolutely no reason for this request to be ignored. And to make matters worse, the staff knew that there were five of us, yet they gave us only ONE set of disposable cutlery for the entire takeaway order. The biggest problem here was not one single mistake. It was the attitude and the repeated lack of basic consideration: no genuine apology when we raised the seating issue, dismissing our concerns by saying that it was our own choice, confirming that our burgers would be cut and then not doing it, and finally giving five people only one set of disposable cutlery. We came here expecting a decent meal, but the whole experience was unnecessarily frustrating and unpleasant. The food was one thing, but the attitude of the staff made the experience much worse. And on top of everything, we were charged a 10% weekend surcharge — quite disappointing considering the level of service we received. Very disappointing. We definitely won’t be coming back.

7 months agoService was decent but food was pretty bad. We ordered a Kicker Chicken Burger which was drenched in sauce (it actually gushed out when I picked it up), a side of sweet potato fries which were soggy and luke warm, buffalo wings which were over fried and under seasoned, a side of chorizo and fried egg which were both burnt and a roasted veggie salad with crumbed chicken which was very oily and soggy (the batter fell off). Tbh I’m quite disappointed coz the venue is nice and I liked our outdoor seating. I don’t know if it’s coz it’s a long weekend and the kitchen was too busy to hold the food quality up but that’s no excuse. Please improve.

5 months agoWe miss Hungry Monkey in Bowral so much that when we were passing through Kiama we simply had to stop to get their amazing corn fritters, chilli scrambled eggs and of course my favourite nutella hot chocolate. Amazing food and so worth travelling for. I can't recommend Hungry Monkey Kiama highly enough - must visit! Sincerely hoping The Hungry Monkey team return to Bowral 🐵 🫶 soon 🤞
